NPD Professional Certification — Now Issuing Digital Credentials

Showcase your skills and qualifications through the NPD Professional Certification digital badge

NPD Professional certification represents mastery of new product development (NPD) principles, skills, knowledge, and experience to manage product lines and product teams. All certified NPD Professionals receive a digital badge that validates this mastery and can be easily added to LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, an email signature, or website to notify the professional community of the achievement.

The digital badge allows certified professionals to:

  • Share your credential online, verifiable in real-time
  • Provide evidence of what you had to do to earn your credential and the skills learned
  • Increase your recognition among peers, employers, and recruiters

NPD Professional Certification Exam — Now Offering Remote Proctoring

PDMA is excited to announce that remote proctoring is now available for the NPD Professional Certification exam. This allows applicants the flexibility to take the exam at home or a preferred location. Remote proctoring provides NPD Professional candidates 24/7 access to the certification exam, allowing for testing whenever it is most convenient.

PDMA Webcast: 4 Phases Webinar for Project and Product Leaders

When:
Friday, June 19, 2020
11 AM CT/12 PM ET

Description
The Covid19 crisis has been brutal to us as citizens, and also no friend to our businesses, products, and projects. Every strategy and plan formed prior to the pandemic is largely obsolete, and we are thrust into an uncertain future in which adaptation is the new normal. Traditional strategic processes as we normally practice them will not be up to the task.

This 50-minute webinar is intended to help leaders who are called to participate in creating solutions get oriented in a way that allows them to be a high-value part of the solution team.

PDMA Netherlands: Insights-Driven Innovation in a Faster-Changing, More Complex & Open Digital World

When:
Thursday, 28 May 2020
15:3016:30 CEST

PDMA NL is organizing a webinar on market insights-driven innovation in fast-paced changing market landscapes on Thursday, 28 May 2020.

With so much shift and information out there, how can you make sure that you have taken and will take the right decisions? You’re not passing by a huge opportunity? You’re not ignoring a critical risk? Today, these questions resonate as even more critical as the COVID crisis will reshape numerous business landscapes and create uncertainties.

This is just an example of "Fuel Cell Technologies". Raphael Mestanza will give an explanation and live demonstration on a number of Body of Knowledge subjects.

During this session, attendees will learn how hybrid ecosystems leveraging AI, Digital, and Human can help innovation decision-makers to get a 360° dynamic view of their business environments to secure their projects, identify new opportunities, and accelerate their stage-gate processes. To illustrate this, specific examples on sustainability and dynamic market forecasting approaches will be discussed.

We Did it! We Hosted Our 2020 Innovate Carolina Conference Totally Virtual

We held our annual conference on April 23 as originally scheduled, though with quite a few changes due to coronavirus orders.  We continue to highlight our Carolina Innovators with our theme of Diversity and Innovation… We wanted to keep our members and our host and speakers safe, while offering an opportunity to see and hear our speakers and showcase our student competition.  We were able to deliver a mini version of the conference that lasted about 90 minutes.

We had short presentations by Undergraduate and Graduate Student Team categories, followed by an announcement of the winners in each category.  In addition, we had four speakers who provided short TEDx-style talks on their intended subject for the original Diversity and Innovation topic for the Innovate Carolinas conference.

We want to send a special Thank You to our Sponsors — StoneLaurel, Shurtape Technologies, and Inovo for not only continuing to support us, but also for adapting to our conference changes.

A big Thank You to our board members for organizing, promoting, and delivering our conference, our speakers, and students for their wonderful ability to adapt and continue to deliver a successful conference.

As a special treat, we hosted an additional virtual session to showcase the 7 remaining student teams and allow a few more speakers to deliver their presentations, and share their innovative ideas with you.

This bonus session was held on Thursday, May 14, 2020. Please enjoy the video replay.

From PDMA HQ

We recently received a notice from Wiley, the publisher of the Journal of Product Innovation Management (JPIM), letting us know that while their normal printing and distribution channels have been hampered by the virus, they have developed an alternative solution. They plan to distribute printed journals again beginning with the June issue. There might be as much as a three-week delay beyond when subscribers would typically receive journals.

Reminder: For now, we are still planning to hold the PDMA Annual Conference September 19-22 in New Orleans.  However, this is a dynamic situation and we are monitoring developments carefully and will let all our contacts know immediately should our plans change. PDMA Chapters are also monitoring the situation and making appropriate decisions about their events.

Take care, everyone!

Announcing the PDMA Student Innovation Challenge
Competition Description

Student teams will develop an original concept for a product, service, software, or a combination of the three, and develop a submission detailing the unique value proposition, evidence of demand, and mockup or embodiment of product. Designs for products, services, or software of any type are welcome.

Qualifier submissions should refine their product idea and create evidence of demand for their product. Finalist teams may be paired with industry mentors through PDMA. Finalist teams are encouraged to present their concepts, prototypes, and mockups at PDMA's annual Competitive Edge Conference. The presentation portion provides students the opportunity to showcase their product development skills in front of product directors, product managers, and product designers.

Incentives and Awards

Each finalist will receive a one-year student membership to PDMA.

The champions are invited to attend the PDMA Competitive Edge Conference (free of charge). Students are encouraged to take time to interact with conference attendees and make connections with practitioners.

Awards will be announced during the PDMA Competitive Edge Annual Conference on Sept. 23, 2020. Three winning teams will be selected by a judging panel, and awarded cash prizes for first, second, or third place to honor their achievements.  Award winners who participate in press releases, social media, and articles on the PDMA.org website will enjoy broad visibility for their achievements.
