Visit to Myddleton House Gardens and Capel Manor

The sun was shining when we visited My
ddleton House and Capel Manor Gardens at the end of June. Both gardens were spectacular and we were fortunate to have a very informative tour of Capel Manor by its former principal Stephen Dowbiggin, who explained the history of the garden and the concepts behind the planting in the individual themed gardens, including its royal connections. Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to enjoy these wonderful places.
Angela Fleming's Open Garden

Thank you to those of you who came along to Angel
a's Open Garden last weekend and to Angela for opening her garden to us. It must have taken a lot of hard work in this hot weather to make sure that it looked its best and it was stunning.

Angela told us about the garden, which she had designed from scratch to take account of the downward slope, and showed us some of her unusual plants. Although we were competing with England in the World Cup quarter final, we were pleased that people came to enjoy the garden and the sunshine and to chat over tea and cake.

Chenies Manor Plant Fair - Sunday 15th July

Why not visit the HPS Middlesex stand at the Chenies Manor Plant Fair on Sunday 15th July? The Fair is open from 10am - 5pm and the Manor House will be open from 2-5pm.

This is the 19th Plant Fair with over 70 specialist nurseries, selling rare and exceptional plants. There will also be pottery, sculpture and specialist tools. Lunch and refreshments will be available in the tea room. Fair and garden entry £9.00. Children under 14 £4.00. Under 3 free.

Public Plant Sales

Brian Franklin, on behalf of HPSMG, organises three Public Plant Sales each year at the Community Hut in Ruislip which are always well attended by people looking for good quality, unusual plants at reasonable prices.

Unfortunately a number of you who have taken tables at the Public Sales in the past are no longer able to continue and we are therefore

looking for people who might be interested in hiring a table. Tables cost £5 plus 10% commission on sales to HPSMG. There is no limit on the number of plants which can be sold. We are also opening up the opportunity to sell plants for 2019 at the Public Sales to non HPS members, so please pass this on to anyone who may be interested.

Plant sales for 2019 will be held on
Saturday 20th April, Saturday 11th May and Saturday 8th June from 9am - 1pm. If you are interested or know anyone who might be, please contact Brian email:
