MONTHLY NEWSLETTER |
June 2024 |
|
|
Dear friends,
After a quick break in May, we're back with another newsletter. Truth be told, it's been a busy time at ROI! In the past few months we received new support from our partners at Camber Foundation and Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, hired Toryah Cameron as our new Director of Development (more on that below), and saw Seth return from a road trip across the Mississippi Delta visiting historical sites from the civil rights movement and visiting ancient indigenous mounds in rural Louisiana with his dad and brother.
In this edition, we share some other exciting updates, including a new partnership with the North Carolina state government and Vichi's latest panel presentation. And keep an eye out for updates on our upcoming event at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Policy Listening Session toward the bottom of this email... We'd love to have you join us!
If you want to get more involved in anything we've shared below, or have thoughts about how to make these newsletters more useful to you, let us know by sending a quick reply.
Thanks for helping us get better and better. Onward! Vichi and Seth |

Expanding Mental Health Support for N.C. Students
We're proud to announce the release a toolkit to help schools across North Carolina use Medicaid billing to hire full-time mental health professionals. This effort, in partnership with the state's Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Public Instruction, builds on our pilot with an alternative school in Edgecombe County that cut suspension days by 28% and disciplinary actions by 38%. A full rollout of the official toolkit will happen by Fall 2024.

Vichi, a 2019 Camelback Fellow, was invited to present on a panel titled “Guardians of Generational Impact” alongside Jonathan Johnson, the Founder/CEO of Rooted School Foundation. The Summit provided an opportunity to connect with old friends and make new ones, and she'd love to tell you more about it!
