The Resilience Zone Podcast | This year, we kicked off the second season of The Resilience Zone. Hosted by Tarboro High School student Anyia Hardy, this podcast shares inspiring stories from young people alongside thought-provoking advice from experts. The Resilience Zone is a place where everyone can speak about their experiences with mental health, trauma and substance misuse. Our first guest this season, Dr. Stephen Loyd, is a medical doctor and addiction expert. After experiencing a decades-long opiate addiction fueled by repressed trauma, Dr. Loyd said an essential part of his healing process was simply sharing the story of what happened to him as a child. Dr. Loyd is just one of many guests this season, and they all have a lot to teach us. Stream The Resilience Zone on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or iHeart Radio.

ROI supports people's healing process by educating, reshaping systemic practices, and fostering deep-rooted connections. We know people are not to blame for the trauma and stress that impacts them. Resilience is an inner strength in all humans, regardless of background, and we as people are wired for connection and healing. We strive to end generational cycles of trauma and poverty by preventing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and toxic stress for the community in rural Eastern North Carolina. Often, social innovation processes leave out rural communities of color. We believe in and know the deep assets that exist in rural communities like ours, and seek to smash together disparate worlds to change the narrative commonly held about rural communities. |
