Resilient Leaders Initiative Cohort 2 Wrap-Up | Cohort 2 of the Resilient Leaders Initiative (RLI), powered by ROI has officially wrapped! Our 5 teams in this cohort spent 2022 dedicating countless hours to listening to their service community and testing ideas based on what they heard. Each team created pilot programs that aim to make their respective communities more trauma-informed and resilient. On behalf of ROI, we say THANK YOU to our teams in Cohort 2 for all your hard work. We look forward to continued collaboration with you all!
As this cohort concludes, we have exciting news to share about RLI. Over the last three years, we've helped over 10 local organizations become more trauma informed through RLI, and now we're creating a curriculum to share these teachings with everyone! This curriculum will use human-centered design and systems thinking to support rural public agencies in better underdtanding who they serve and their staff, and assist with implementing programs and strategies that are trauma-informed. The curriculum will be open source, so anyone may use it to start improving their organization.

ROI supports people's healing process by educating, reshaping systemic practices, and fostering deep-rooted connections. We know people are not to blame for the trauma and stress that impacts them. Resilience is an inner strength in all humans, regardless of background, and we as people are wired for connection and healing. We strive to end generational cycles of trauma and poverty by preventing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and toxic stress for the community in rural Eastern North Carolina. Often, social innovation processes leave out rural communities of color. We believe in and know the deep assets that exist in rural communities like ours, and seek to smash together disparate worlds to change the narrative commonly held about rural communities. |
